At MPS, the overall aim of our English curriculum is for children to speak and write fluently so that they can
communicate their ideas and emotions as well as read easily and fluently, with understanding, so that others can
communicate with them. We promote high standards of language and literacy by equipping children with a strong
command of the spoken and written word as well as by developing their love of reading for both information and
pleasure. We place an emphasis on developing the art of speaking and listening across the curriculum from Nursery
so that children can make formal presentations as well as be able to express themselves clearly and participate in
debate.
